I'm soundfront in Salvo and the wind just clocked around and is blowing 50 to 70. All the sound water just blew back in and is now flooding up the street about 2-3 houses (I had to move my car and walk back through it). The house is shaking, even the rocking chair is moving. This is nuts. Anyone else down here with some stories to tell? |

We're in Avon, parked our truck on the bridge at Askins creek. Flooding under our cottage was around 4 feet. Wind was busy, over 80 mph starting at 5 am. Power is back now, water is starting to recede. And we're on this end of HWY 12. Life is good. |

The house lost some roof shingles, my neighbor had a window blow in and the flooding was everywhere yesterday. Rt 12 is still closed for another day or two up north but things are getting back to normal pretty quickly. My van had water up to the top of the front tires and now has some electrical issues but I think it will get me home. I heard one report that the wind was 80 to 100 but have no proof of it. This was the most severe weather I have experienced down here and now that it's over I am a little shell-shocked but smiling. I hope more people start showing up down here. |

Peak gust at Jennette's pier in Nags Head.........95mph. Apparently, only Cape Canaveral and Tybee Island recorded higher gusts in the US during this storm. |

Thanks for the reports.
I need to get back down there. It's been a long time. |
