Hi Gang,

As you have probably noticed many of the cams come and go as people and companies lose interest in maintaining them.

One of the most useful set of cams for forecasting and finding wind is run by ABC7news. Especially useful in the cam atop Mt. Tam in Marin since you can see the overall flow of fog in the central and East Bay. This means it is also useful for sailors and kiters north of the Bay Bridge.

I am worried that unless these cams get lots of use ABC7news might discontinue the cams.

So let's let them know we need these cams by putting this link in your daily wind search.

Thanks!

The website is part of my usual wind search. Most of us regularly check the East Bay Cam abc7news.com and also the View from LHS lawrencehallofscience.org in the Berkeley hills and CAL Sailing Club Web Cam ocscsailing.com which requires an easy sign in and is located at the Berkeley Marina. We look at Crissy Field Webcam parksconservancy.org and Alameda Board Sports Webcam boardsportscalifornia.com sometimes. But by far the most valuable resource is iWindsurf. Thank you for helping us and of course we will try to help in the way you suggest.

Hi Error!

Thanks for the nice words!

There are about 40 cams I use every day to try to get a handle of the flow of fog, its depth relative to the gaps that feed different sites and the nature of the inversion.

One thing I have noticed is that when cams stopped being promptly fixed by the owner it is often a prelude to the owner deciding it is not worth the effort and coast to replace them.

So I hope we can drive up traffic to these cams so they stay in operation. Here is another important cam.

It is useful to see the speed of the fog flow towards Pt. Isabel and if there is an eddy.
