|
|
I made a formal request to the weatherflow guys for a local Baja sensor.
There used to be one @ Raul’s a long time ago but it has been gone for a long time.
The weatherflow guys replied and indicated that if there was enough interest they would consider an installation.
There really is excellent wave sailing there but the forecasting for down there is a bit hit or miss and a real time sensor really helped in the past!
Anyone who is interested in seeing the addition of a local Baja I-Windsurf sensor installation please reply to this post so we can show some interest and a possible new Baja site addition.

Ya what's the deal iwindsurf, we need a Raul's station! Back in the day (yep I just invoked "back in the day") 4-6kt out of west @ 9:00am meant it was going to be good and windy by 11:30am. Stop treating us local Mex sailers like red headed stepchildren and get us a site.

Without a sensor down there it's a case of just 'drive and pray' that you don't get skunked. The conditions are pretty unique and localized and can't be always inferred from and San Diego sensor ( or the iW forecast). It can be 5-10 in San Diego and 15-25 down there.

Yep, today is the perfect example of why we need a sensor down there. The human forecast says mild winds for San Diego but most sites are the right direction but kinda light @ 10a.m. Fun size south swell running. Might be good today!

The Surfline cam at Baja Malibu shows whitecaps out the back at 10:50am, if there was a sensor at Raul's it would be reading at least 12-17kts. But that's just a guess based on experience, if there was a site down there I would know for sure and avoid having to spend the day drinking beer in a Tijuana strip club.

From the looks of this 12 noon sat map you would be getting hammered @ the TJ bar, but who really knows without a sensor!
