Preferably thick(ish) rope with non-slip outer surface and knots at intervals for grabbing.
Fix to the underside front of the boom with a short thin piece of rope tied through a knot at the head of the thicker rope, and slotted through any convenient hole (or space) in the boom head.
To stop the rope from flapping about while sailing (or catching on things) fasten a length of strongish elastic to the bottom quarter or so, to hold it close to the mast while sailing, but have sufficient stretch to uphaul properly. Add a loop at the bottom of the elastic to slip over the mast base before connecting to the board.
It's one way, and it works. |

Great thanks. I just bought a bunch of used gear from a guy and found an uphaul rope in good shape in the bag so I won't need to buy one |
