Pond Skim Saturday at Meadows

Gods forbid any of us should do anything different. Especially after several grueling days of windsurfing, when we really need a rest. But here is something, in case you are interested.

*Don't hate me for this non-windsurfing-related post; after all, there is a kite/windsurf costume concept featured (briefly) in this video.

Looks like a nice sunny Spring day tomorrow on Mt. Hood. Maybe a little fresh snow with mostly sunny sky and not too sticky either (39 degrees max).
Perfect for the Pond Skim! It is free to spectate.

*Fast spring corn snow
*Hilarious wipeouts, including high-speed faceplants
*Outrageous costumes (it's a costume contest)
*Beer
*Food
*Music
*Bikinis

The Pond Skim is judged by 1) making it across a 100' frigid pond, 2) costume (Hawaiian theme), and 3) crowd response.

Loads of fun. And you can still be back in the Gorge in time for an afternoon session. Maybe see you there!

I'd like to see some of the freestyle windsurf dudes throw some moves on that.

Ramps are illegal (liability, of course). Otherwise a windsurfer would win best crash at least.

Today, I saw two guys on two skis (four bindings total) make it across the pond twice with a nice controlled high-speed stop at the end. That was impressive!

Swimsuit parade at intermission was top-quality.
