Most peninsula sensors are looking pretty poor today except 'Sierra Point.' I know where it is, but is there a launch area somewhere? For what launch area(s) are the Sierra Point sensor readings the best proxy?

Never sailed there but have stopped by to see if it's possible. Normally tons of wind but no launch that I have found except for launching across the small bit of water between the Brisbane Harbor (Sierra Point) and Oyster Point...launching from the grassy area on the East side of the Genentech area. The sensor is 1/4-1/3 mile off shore on a channel marker for the Brisbane Harbor.

I have sailed through Sierra Point having launched from Candlestick on a SW wind and headed over towards Coyote Pt. I made it as far as Haskins/Oyster Pt. area but a mile or so out from shore before the chop had become too much for my big board. I could have made it to Coyote given wind cooperation but of the areas I went through on the trek, Sierra had the most steady wind that day.

J

(not sure if that helped any...)

Oyster Pt is the closest launch, nice cement ramp.
It may have been good there today, not sure.
O. Pt. can be good when it's from the south.
Haskins St or Genentech is usually better on SW. There is
talk of a new ramp around the point from Genentech too.
Tide needs to be higher at both of those though.

East bay is usually good on SW, take a look at Berkeley.

I know what you mean. I've stood on the rocks and wondered. Apparently it's doable and clear.
2003 Depth charts show it to be 6' Dan and I will try it this season if there is a wind drought.

Hey JRobb, how's it going? LeeD here, still have the JPSlalom84 you sold me.
I used to sail it only in the late fall, when nothing else, not Candlestick, not Haskins, not Tiger's, not Oyster is going. Always harsh gusty, offshore and holey, sorta short reach, but better than the pond on the other side of the freeway.
Haven't sailed it since around '90.
I hit 67 last month, so long sessions are out, and powered up sailing is only for less than an hour sessions nowadaze. Just takes too long to recover.
Hope you're still speed sailing and doing well.

Have sailed to Sierra Pt from Oyster half a dozen times in the past when the wind is both strong and southwesterly. Need a small sail and uphaulable board as the wind between pier at Oyster to the Stick can be flucky. Gets pretty choppy past the pier and be prepared for some gusts from hell at Sierra Pt. It's challenging but is a good ride in the right conditions.

Loads of carbs will help immensely. Better yet, stop eating carbs, get ketogenic, and run your engine on fats, especially coconut oil/MCTs. That fuel tank will never run dry. If it's good enough for ultramarathoners and many pro endurance athletes, it's good enough for us geezers.

Add HIIT to it to increase and enhance your mitochondria for another very significant boost in endurance.

Funny thing Isobars talks about intake and nutrition.
Friend of mine, Dean Karnazes, was into ultra marathon for years.
He was into the nutrition thing when competing and at the top of the game several year's ago.
Funny, he's stopped, and went to a normal diet! Strange.

What's a "normal" diet?

Certainly not the absolute $#!+ that most Americans buy in a box at the 7-11 and actually PUT INTO THEIR MOUTHS!! Smile
