I often spin out the fin on an older Mistral Screamer. Ive been told that a larger fin would prevent it but dont know the fin-box type. (1990-94 screamer, approximately)Does anyone know the fin type and a place where one might be available?

Yea man its a type A BOX.
Best board every made!
You may just have too big a sail on.
If you load the fin up too much it will spin out. If you were a fin and someone keep putting pressure on you, youd
spin out too.Go easy on your fin they
have a tough life.

Many things affect or cause spinout. Go to rec.windsurfing to endless discussions of the topic. Easiest way: access rec.w through a dejanews Power Search with spinout or spin out as key words, and youll find dozens of comments on it.

Causes include fins that are loose, nicked, or too small. Cures include correcting those problems, plus better techique, slots, fins with more curvature, sheeting in more, and others.
