witnessed an obnoxiously ugly scene at the hatchery friday. Seems a kiteboarder was in trouble (hiswords) and needed to land his kite on the beach. A few kids were playing on the rocks, clearly out of the way of all windsurfers, and the kiteboarder went ballistic, shouting for the kids to get the hell out of the way, and this is an adult space anyway, then he berated the mom for the next 10 minutes while he untangled his kite.growup

On Alameda beach this Saturday, I witnessed quite a few beginners slam their brand-new kites on the beach, inches away from (or on) people minding their own business. Some of those morons would actually scream watch out! or get out of the way, slam their kite, then do it again.

How about training at low tide first, far away from the beach? Isnt there some kind of kiteboarding etiquette manufacturers could print on their kites? Shit, if you cant control it, go play somewhere else.

What the hell were those kids playing on the rocks for anyway? They should be in the kitchen doing dishes, earning their keep. Rocks are no place to play highways are better!

And if you cant control your kite, youd best buy a LOT of insurance. Youre gonna need it.
