Is a windsurfer considered a vessel and thus needs to carry a pfd? Does anyone know the law on this? |

Each state sets its own PFD laws.

I have been warned on the beach and on the water about a lifejacket while windsurfing. I have also been stopped on a sailboat in the middle of a race to check for lifejackets (we lost). Also, we got ticketed twice for having too many people and not enough PFDs on a inflatable dingy. I know some people who say that their harness is a certified pfd, but it is a little risky. Personally, I put on a PFD whenever in sight of water. |
