July can have strong winds. The, going to LA requires bigger gear. I would pack an 810, 90 to 100 liter board and a quiver; 4.0 to 7.0. The extra liters will help down south. The 4.0 might seem a bit small, just remember youre on vacation chasing the wind and want to be ready for it.
Make sure you check the harness lines at the rental shop and get two fins to cover your sail quiver. One mast and one very long mast extension should handle this quiver range. I would rent two wave mast to be safe. A 430 for the 4.0 to 5.5 and a 460 for the 6.0 to 7.0. Id go for an extension for both mast and forsure two rubber joints,... and you will have to rent two booms. Everything you rent out of San Francisco has been in salt water so check it carefully. Ditch the second three piece suit and bring your own wetter. a 3/4 mil is fine in the north but may roast you down south. You might be ok with swim trunks by the time you are down there. |
