So I like the balanced feeling and support of a waist harness, but I need it tight to keep from riding up - so much so that my breathing is restricted. I need a seat to hold it down. So Im looking for a waist harness with a seat, or a seat harness with a high hook and back support. Recomendations?

For years, the hnds-down favorite pick of one magazines testers was DaKines Surf Seat, which combines waist hook height, a BIG honkin back support with lumbar pad, and enough of a seat to keep it all down where it belongs so ya can actually BREATHE.
I sail almost around the calendar, mostly powered to the max on small sails, and have been on the same Surf Seat for four years now. Ive heard their Xtreme Seat is even better, but have a major obstacle to trying it out: my backup harness is an unused Surf Seat, so it looks like about 2005 before I need to buy another harness.

| Definitely go with the DaKine Surf Seat. It is the best and has the best of both worlds with waist and seat harnesses. They are not expensive for harnesses either. |

Dude, buy a chest harness with a wide spreader bar. For one reason only. The babes on the beach love to look at our tight ass. Its true. There was a poll taken on a popular US beach during a wave contest and it was like 99.9% in favor for the chest harness for that reason. Ive always worn one and so do the dudes I sail with. Duh, they are better for wave riding, but they also look better than that diaper dweeb geek look. I get laid more because of my chest harness and the fact that the babe pretty much knows what my package has in store for her that night.
It also works the other way. I love to look at a windsurf babes butt. I have converted over thirty women to the chest harness. In fact, I have gone out of my way to date a seat harness boardhead just to convert her to the way of the chest harness!
The seat harness is ugly, uncomfortable, and wears out your wetsuit. I think it was designed for married dudes that want to stay out of trouble, squat as they tap a few more mph flat water sailing, and enjoy that diaper dweeb geeky feeling.
Hang Loose,... oh wow man, I forgot - you cant, you wear a seat harness |

| Prozac, doesnt the fact you like to step in dog shit make you somewhat less atractive, despite the chest harness? |

Isobar Mike,
Can you tell me more about DaKines Xtreme harness? I cant seem to get any info on it. I am looking for a harness like the Surfseat. Another option is the Thermoform harness which I will try on when I can get to a shop with one.
Thanks, Mike |

Actually, no, I cant. Ive never paid any real attention to the Xtreme simply because Im so satisfied with my surf seat. When I need another harness, Ill look into it then. As for the Thermoform ... I cant wear a waist harness. They KILL my back within one reach -- just a personal thing I cant explain. I also perfer to breathe, and rib pressure opposes that.
Besides, after prozaks rant, surely no one over 16 years old will ever want to wear a waist harness again, right?

| I really like the DaKine Thermo waist. very good and doesnt ride up. I also have the Reactor bar, which helps a lot. This harness has an optional seat that can be velcrod in. I didnt try that, but I didnt think I would ever use it. |
