I have a 97 Mistral Screamer with a few tears, holes, and peeling of the outside plastic skin of the board. I there a glue, adhesive, resin, anyone can suggest to patch these. I have matching yellow duck tape on for now. water soaks into the interior foam pretty fast and drains in a slow leak for a few days. the board is too used to invest in a proffessional repair so id like ideas on a do-it-myself job beyond tape. I just want something to keep the water out. thanks DC |

Marine-tex is all-right but its impossible to work with and its expensive. For all repairs make sure that the area is completely dry and free of any junk. Use a dremel moto-tool or something of the sort to clear off any loose stuff. For filling holes; mix some epoxy with a fairing filler or colloidial silica which make the epoxy easier to work with, like a putty(both are made by West System and can be found at most marine supply stores)note: the fairing filler is meant to be sanded with ease but needs another layer of epoxy on top of it. The colloidial silica is a lot harder to sand so always put on a little less than you need(you can always add more). If your going to use glass: cut the piece before you start throwing epoxy on it, cut it bigger than the hole size, soak it in epoxy, put a thin layer on the board and slap the two together, try and work out the air bubbles.....
Water is bad for the inside of your board!!
good luck....... |

I use marine-tex to fix all kinds of stuff. I found it easy to use even on site only loosing 30 minutes of sail time. |
