So do kiters.....holy cow. I was there two Friday's ago , and the entire section next to the Jetty was 100% kites, and the handful of windsurfers were out in the middle , away from the Jetty. Is it just rules of the road that the windsurfers dont sail near the Jetty on a crowded day? |

Flat water and rolling winds caused by the jetty upwind, windsurfing near the jetty is a challenge. Why bother?
It's mostly sideshore, you can go DTL forever, pinching back upwind on the wave, then on the whitewater to a snap jibe on shore, downwind of the madness. |

gotcha...It just looked alot cleaner next to the Jetty, whereas the middle was a Logo high closeout, which required a nifty tack, something I do NOT excel at. |

Logo high closeout is actually good for lower Florence, because you got out in a lull, do 3 jumps, then ride in on the last two waves, frontside DTL and when it closes out, you go off the lip roller coaster and ride LEFT back upwind!
Since it's the last two waves of the set, when you inside jibe, you get a lull to go back out and do your 3 jumps. |

While we should worry a bit about shark's biting us, it's a fact that the chances are almost nil.
I've been surfing 6 days a week for over 25 years.
Have windsurfed in the surf for well over 200 days.
Unbitten as yet. |
