Hey isn't the Rio Vista Grand Slam happening this weekend at Sherman Island, starting on Friday? And if there is wind like what we have been getting, it should be a great show. Especially with the pros showing up.

Indeed it is on Friday thru Sunday. Come out and join in the fun. The freeride slalom is looking to be a blast for all and of course the Pro freestyle should not be missed.

This sounds interesting! I found the Web site for the event: www.riovistagrandslam.com

I'm curious how the logistics of parking/rigging/crowd control are going to work. Sounds like things are centered around the County Park. The day-use parking will be gone quick. Will the rest park in the bottomlands of The Access? The Web site says tickets for non-competitors are $15. I wonder what that will buy: food? a place to sit? a t-shirt? parking? good karma?

I believe parking will be just outside the county park except for those competing. And food will be at the Delta windsurf shopp.

Well the Grand Slam seems to have been a huge success. What a great event. Even the weather cooperated for the most part. I think it is the one event that has helped to bring the windsurf community together in the last 20 years in this region. What was enjoyable was seeing the pros and others just going all out but what was most inspiring was seeing our friends going out there and having fun no matter what place they came in. And seeing kids being so active and competitive was also so very encouraging for the future of our sport. I hope that it becomes an annual event.

We parked on the levee less than 100 yards outside the park. Check the website for pics and results: http://www.riovistagrandslam.com
