Its all a question of personal preference. Some people vent, others dont. My boardmaker tells me I shouldnt vent unless its a really hot day and my board is in the car, Im travelling on a airplane, or going up into the Sierra. The danger of sand getting in your plug and letting water in outweighs the possibility of your board blowing up under normal circumstances.

Hey whys everyone complaining here?
