|

I have choice of buying either of the used boards in same condition. They are both at same price and both are 150L.
Any opinion ?
I am not sure whether techno has centerboard but the mistral evolution has center board. |

Are you a beginner starting in the sport? It appears that the Mistral Evolution may have changed over time, but if it's the one with a daggerboard, it's more of a beginners board. On the other hand, the Bic Techno 283 is an older course slalom design without a daggerboard. What's your overall goal in buying a board? |

need the right board for the right conditions
how much do you weigh cuz with 150 liter board I use 8 m2 sail
Techno is 69 cm wide and should be okay in 7-oh conditions
for me 7.0-8.0 - is that what you are looking for ??
trim box means not always easy to find fins ...
283 means 283 cm long = long n narrow in today's world
freemoves are now wide, slim and shorter
toted as better than sliced bread
personally still use the "old" stuff
you choose based on LOCATION, budget and SKILLS
for budget - one can always borrow |

What is your skill level?
How much do you weigh?
Where will you be doing most of your windsurfing? _________________ Michael

The Techno is a good all around board. I used 6.0 to 9.0 sails on it for course/slalom racing may years ago (three different fins with the various sails). One down side for novices/intermediates is the thin nose, which will break off if slammed by the boom/mast. When Formula came along, I sold the Techno. |

The Techno has no center board. If you are a true beginner at 180lbs, it could be a little challenging unless you have good balance and are dedicated.
Something around 200L and wider is idea to learn to cruise.
Then for footstraps yes the Techno is great. It's easy to control. The post above makes complete sense I did the same. Sailed the Techno until I wanted something faster and got a Formula for light wind blasting.
I sailed the Techno with 5.5 to 7.5 and used different size fins to match sail size. _________________ *NEW* - Manu's Windsurfing Blog, The STORE! |

Ditto on what all above said about the Techno. I still have mine and keep it for light wind lake sailing though I have taken it to the beach and ridden small waves on occasion. |
