Time is running out for BHO, he wants a great legacy, and now is the time to see what he can do to achieve one.
But he's already got Obamacare! Really, I think even he knows that it could fizzle out over time.
What about open boarders for all those trying to escape tyrannies from ruthless countries? That may prove to be a net negative as well.
Terrorism,,,,,,,,,,, lets not go there, he doesn't want to.
Free community college for all!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wait, that might be it!!! Okay, let's see, but here's something to consider.

6 reasons the math on Obama’s college plan doesn’t add up

By Anita Kumar

McClatchy Washington BureauJanuary 9, 2015 Updated 6 hours ago

WASHINGTON — There are at least six reasons that community college won’t be free anytime soon, no matter what President Barack Obama says.

Obama, who traveled Friday to Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville, Tenn., to tout the America’s College Promise plan, said he wanted to make higher education as accessible as a high school diploma for all Americans.

But the plan has flaws that all but ensure it won’t be implemented and will serve only as a political proposal to make supporters happy. Among the reasons:

The price tag

It would cost $60 billion over 10 years. White House officials wouldn’t say where they’d find the billions to pay for it. And the spending would have to be approved by Congress, where Republicans just gained seats in midterm elections after campaigning against more federal spending.

Administration officials say they’ll indicate where the money will come from when Obama releases his budget proposal Feb. 2. “Without details to review, this plan is more like a talking point,” said Cory Fritz, a spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio.

The national debt

In December, the national debt reached $18 trillion, sparking renewed criticism from fiscal conservatives about the increase in government spending. Obama touted the declining federal budget deficit when he spoke in Knoxville on Friday, but he didn’t mention that the debt continues to increase.

“Why stop there?” Republican Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said. “Why not have the government buy a car and a house for everyone?”

The states

While the federal government would pick up 75 percent of the tab, the final quarter would come from states that opt into the program. The states, which have already slashed funding for colleges and universities as they face budget shortfalls and competing priorities, would have to cut other programs to pay for the cost or to raise taxes.

The students

The program would provide aid to some students who don’t need it, instead of focusing on low-income students through, for example, expanding Pell Grants or reducing the paperwork for student aid. Administration officials estimate that 9 million students could participate if they attend at least half-time, maintain 2.5 GPAs and make progress toward completing degrees or certificate programs.

“Making tuition free for all students regardless of their income is a missed opportunity to focus resources on the students who need aid the most,” said the Institute for College Access & Success, which usually sides with the Obama administration.

The emphasis

The lure of free tuition might lead some students who should go straight to four-year institutions to attend community colleges instead.

“Why support community college instead of college?” asked Russ Whitehurst, a former official at the Department of Education who now heads the Brown Center on Education Policy at the Brookings Institution, a center-left policy research center.

The regulations

States and community colleges would have to abide by certain rules to get the federal money. For example, states would have to agree not to cut higher education funding elsewhere to pay for the proposal.

Community colleges would have to offer programs that transfer to public four-year colleges or lead to degrees and certificates that are in demand among employers, and implement programs that would improve student achievements.

Good luck with that.
How about real tax reform, or taking advantage of being a black man and declaring a war on racial divide by supporting police departments across the country with a national day of honoring the PD, shutting down all the professional race baiters. Or how about getting tough on terror by saying that Islam has a cancer and needs to have it removed, otherwise we are all at risk.
Naa, those things are too tough, better keep with the easy stuff like give aways.
We can afford it, right?

NW30, man, your bitterness is showing. As I see it, President Obama is just starting to get interesting. I'm all in for the next two years.

At far as the article goes, it totally misses the mark. The community college idea is such a great idea. Let's see how the Republicans deal with it. They need to prove that they have America's best interest in mind. It's about deeds, not just words.

Free stuff gets votes. The reality is it's a lot like Obama care. $3600 per year is only about 15% of the real cost. So, the idiots love it, until reality sets in.

We can see many programs are launching for students. Students still in doubt about the meaning of any College regulation should seek advice from their academic advisor, a counselor or an appropriate officer of the College.
All students are expected to understand all regulations in the College Catalog that may affect their academic progress, financial obligations, and relationships with College authorities, transferability of credits for courses completed, acceptance of credits for graduation and eligibility to graduate.

I never cease to be amazed at the bad grammar and punctuation in all the spam for writing courses and outright cheating. Most of these spiels look like those letters from the King of Nigeria telling us they'll send us a zillion dollars if we send them a billion dollars first, or "Pleeze send that thing you advurtized. Weel pay double yur asking prize plus leetle sistur."

Community colleges are already a great deal, financially. The ones I am familiar with in the three states I have lived are highly subsidized by local and state taxes. While there are some students that truly don't have the money, just about any part time job will pay enough to cover the costs for a "day" student.

Help those that need help. Don't give away the farm for a feel good talking point.

Oh, now I get it. Federal funding = federal control.

Of course. The party that pays for malleable young minds buys their votes at least until they grow up, wise up, and realize how gullible they were.

Now "they" are considering mandating that college students have a job. How does forcing students to stay in school for an extra year or two* help with college costs? And look at Obama's latest threat to raise our cost of living by increasing corporation tax burdens by hundreds of billions of dollars (by his personal decree), which of course just gets passed on to customers.

* (Anyone who has spare time for a job during full-time college attendance is not taking that "full-time" caveat seriously.)

Once again, the excellent state school I attended costs little more now, after adjustment for inflation, than it did during my 7 year span there in the '60s, and I was absolutely hounded by employers even before I finished. I have no sympathy for students who demand that someone else pay their way through an exceptionally expensive college. If you can't afford a Maserati and Harvard, then earn more money or settle for a bicycle and State U. That's how this country is supposed to work.

It's nice to finally see a true leader speaking to Congress today . While Benjamin Netanyahu was fighting as a commando Pres. Obama was smoking dope at Columbia . The contrast between the two men their ideologies is astonishing . Of course a handful of liberal Democrats are boycotting the speech of the decade . What a shame !
