looks like the solar panel is still there but buried under a bunch of twigs.

Thanks for the close up confirmation Trudy.
Definitely missing the two 10W solar panels which power the station. They were "flush mounted" against the flat edge of the nav aid cage using 4 stainless steel hose clamps each. Unfortunately there is no "give" in this style of mounting and repeated beatings must have rocked it loose to the point of failure.
Our new system will allow a small bit of rotation as the panel is mounted on a piece of round stainless pipe then firmly clamped to the outside of the cage. The mounts are being shipped from FL, the new solar panel (20W) is coming from New England.
It is going to take some time to schedule the boat (we have two trips lined up ahead of this repair) and get the weather window but please rest assured that this very valuable site will be back online. Once the repair is made, these sensors can often run reliably for many years.

|
|
Anyway. Found the time to add wave modeling to the report pages. Along with the recent tide updates, these pages are tight:
http://www.windsurforegon.com/oregon-central-coast
http://www.windsurforegon.com/oregon-central-coast#wave
Also, added the wave model to the coast charts that you can access up top.
.. and yes, it's super mobile friendly made sure of that... and I added some buttons to quickly navigate to each section because these pages are getting long
It's based off the NOAA NWW3 wave model. A few notes, as you notice discrep with magic seaweed:
1) removed all swells moving away from the coast
2) removed all choppy swells (< 4 sec)
3) removed all small swells (< 1.5 ft)
4) BUT kept all wave trains – sometimes, there can be 6 at a time.
And color coded the heck out of it to spot the good swells (> 12 sec, and above 5 ft) from a surfer's perspective:)

Newport Oregon April 16, 17, 18 & 19
Everyone is wasted from sailing the coast, a few have no skin left on their hands, got progressively easier, Saturday and Sunday were super easy sailing. Fun times.
