Got up to "los roques" just outside Cumberland park, Plattsburgh at 1330hrs on tuesday. Around twenty five sailors, started on a 4.7 & 72 quad, good for a while till it backed off. Everyone on small stuff did the painful slog back in. Ended up sailing till sunset fully powered on a 6.0, 100 skate. Air temp. mid seventies, water clear, blue & crisp. 6' steep ramps not uncommon, nice pilgrimage that I hope to do annually. Sept.-Oct. is great up there, if it had been the weekend & those conditions, there would have been 4 times the sailors. About a dozen kites down wind at Cumberland pk. beach also. javascript:emoticon('')

"los roques" as our friends to the north call it, is known to us handful of locals as "the straights". killer spot for those of us that grew up here. unfortunately, when it's firing, parking is taken up by the canadian contigent. you can also hit the city beach. soft sand and grass for rigging. enter through the crete center lot if the city beach gate is closed.

i was just through the area to drive up to Montreal for the weekend and the lake and the islands looked great. I dropped off several pairs of skis to sell at the Outdoor Gear Exchange in Burlington then continued north until we crossed over the islands to Rousses Point to go over the border.
I'd be very interested to come up north to windsurf, it is about the same 2 1/2 hours drive up to Burlington as it is to Kalmus beach on the cape, but without the Boston traffic.
How hard is it too park and set up during the summer?
