Hello
I have a Dynafiber boom,it is fully articulating. The up and down movement
is fine, but how do I stop the side to side movement? I was told not to use the boom with any side play or loosness, there is a high risk of breaking
the boom

You need to ask yourself why the front end of the boom is moving from one side to the other. It could be that the front end just needs to be tightened, or replaced by a better product, like the Maui Sails front end. However, it could be that the front end carbon connection that joins the two arms needs raised stops of some kind to hold the front end in place. This can be done by applying some added carbon/epoxy wraps on either side of the front end to create a channel for it to fit in. |

If it is the type of head with a loose (white) piece that hooks in, replace the head before it breaks from fatigue and you are stuck. I replaced it with an HPL head (probaby no longer in existence), built up diameter, put little epoxy bumps to keep centered. Many good options out there, Maui sails is pricey. If it looks like good head, little epoxy bumps or a deeper channel as previously suggested. dhmark |
