Like on Wind-NC-Hatteras's and Spennies observations. Silt can be nasty on batten pockets.
Still, Bamer's suggestion might be worth trying -especially if the sail is such that you are willing to moor it for such an extended time in the first place. _________________ Support Your Sport. Join US Windsurfing!

I was imagining that you could affix a couple of mast bases to the top or side of the deck, then simply unhook the rig, plug it into one of the bases, then uphaul it out of the water and hook the luff side of the boom to a line, kind of like a forestay on the mast of a sloop. You could set it up so the masts are verticle, or if you put the base on the side of the dock, so that the clew just clears the water. Then, for sun protection, do something similar with an old sunfish sail or the like, so that the windsurfing sail is in the shade. The advantage, since you mentioned your neighbors, is that it will have the outward appearance of a couple of rigged sailboats tied to your dock -- and of course would be completely temporary. |
