OK,

Well I also have or have had a fair few WindSUPs and now have the 12'2 Freeride and the Exo 11'8 WindSUP.

Both are great boards when used for their intended purpose. At 230lbs I can sail the 12'2 Freeride with a lightweight 8.0m SuperFreak UL with a "planing sensation*" while the kiters remain on the beach. Normally I won't sail until about 3-4 knots more than the lightweight kiters, and even then with a much bigger sail.

* This board is unique in that it will glide up onto the "plane" with the flexible centre board acting a little like a formula fin. The planing threshold or speed that you feel like you are planing is lower than that experienced on other boards. It does get to an upper limit when you need to retract the centreboard and have it planing (traditionally) off the rear fin, and this is a little trickier. Generally by this stage the kiters are out and overtaking so its to change boards and, ironically, change to a larger sail.

So great board for its intended purpose, hope they bring out a lighter wooden version. PS also a good general purpose paddle board and you can teach windsurfing on it.

Windsurfutah and Waterloo, how much tail rocker does this Starboard have? Is the rocker profile comparable to the 11'8" Exocet?

Here are a few pictures of the Freeride. Awesome looking board for SUP and 5-15 knot windsurfing!

I haven't sailed this one, but I sailed the comparable inflatable 12' x 30" and absolutely loved the glide and "soft plane" sensation in what seemed like ridiculously light conditions. I used a cambered 7.0 in flat water, maybe 5-12 mph breeze? Sail felt powered, board felt smooth and fast. No harness, no footstraps, just cruising and enjoying the fresh air. It is a fantastic aspect of windsurfing.

Thanks! Finally we can actually see what this board looks like. Tail looks pretty flat, would you say it's flat from where you stand then all the way back?
So this one has no daggerboard, does this one have the removable center fin?
Nose is interesting, half way to a displacement bow.
Too bad not a better fin box Sad or even footstraps.

Where is the mast track? M8 insert?
Would it be possible to get one more picture of the underside so we can see the rocker line?

BB

It's not really that kind of board.

At its "planing" threshold I think the board is only travelling at around 11-12knots so no need for footstraps and the "lift" is generated by the softish daggerboard that is placed aft of traditional dagger location.

Max speed for me so far is 17knots and still don't need footstraps for that. There are three different mast insert locations so I find my feet move a fair bit during the course of a session.

As a guide I generally don't hit the footstraps on the Exo WindSUP 11'8 until about 20-22knots board speed, partly because I feel I the outboard straps on it are oddly located / spaced...

The shape is a bit like a very old Mistral Superlight I have, the nose is the same, It's about the same length, same square tail, the SB is a bit wider and the bottom is flat, the rails are different, rocker is similar, SB a bit flatter.
Footstraps and a bigger fin and it could be similar to a longboard raceboard.
Maybe too wide however.
I couldn't imagine my 11'8" without the footstraps.

Ive heard two experienced WSers praise their Superlight's SUP performance. One full Superlight "set" ... board, rig, and every component, all looking almost new ... got snapped up at a swap meet for <$100 just for that purpose.

Looks like a lot of tail rocker on that Starboard Freeride.
