For the decade-plus that I lived in a van chasing wind from Florence to Arlington, I became good friends with these six escapes from the heat:
1. The Dalles Library (HR's library was not yet air conditioned).
2. Movie theaters.
3. My secret camping spot; it wasn't actually cool, but it very often blew hard all night when everything else in the central Gorge was calm.
4. Safeway's food court.
5. Jones Beach. When the Gorge is calm and topping a hundred degrees, JB can blow 5.2 to 3.5 ten hours a day and top out at 80 degrees for days on end. 6. Some of these corridor dog days, beginning in August some years, blow like hell at the usual east wind sites. Who cares how hot Stevenson is if it's averaging 30 mph from dawn until noon?

Looks like Jones was strong all afternoon. Moving the Jones sensor to the navigational aid really highlights the constancy of Jones in the summer. The old Jones sensors never did the place justice.

I sailed my 11' SUP on upwind of the kites today in the corridor. I was not expecting much but it turned out to be tons of fun. No foot straps and planing with 8' of board out of the water in front of me kept it interesting. I feel it in legs this evening!

Georges,
Don't worry about your post. You were having fun, and it is not offensive to any reasonable person.

Thank you.
I am often taken back by the "this is serious business" form of writing I have read on some local blogs and seen on some beaches...It often times comes off as elitist... In the end when I can no longer clutch a boom it will not be the perfect day at swell or 3rd that I remember but the beer on the beach with good friends....

To my friends that are gone forever......And the ones I have yet to discover....

Gman.

So sorry about the " little incident " at your pool party ISO. The pool company assures me you will not have to drain the entire pool some extra chlorine and a good long filtering should clear up the issue. ( let's not invite him next year)

"Little incident" is right (he got pantsed in the shallow end).
Some testosterone pills or warmer water might help with that problem. Smile
