Just recieved a new and different mast (different manufacturer and vendor). The construction looks so much better quality than the one that I returned. In addition it measures between 4.0 and 4.6lbs on the scale which I would say is right to spec of 4.4lbs advertised - so for an extra $100 I have a 490 mast that looks to be meticulously built (compared to horse-sh**) and weighs at least 1.0lb less. We will see how it sails but I'm pretty happy I made the switch. I don't have any experience with high carbon masts but I know what attention to detail looks like.
(this mast is 2 full lbs. AT LEAST less weight than the 30% carbon Powerex it replaces which has served me well for what I paid for it, I could use a couple of pounds less in my 8.1 and 9.5 for sure) |

Sounds like a good shop. I love when a place makes no bones about taking something back...it encourages me to make more purchases from them. _________________ Michael
