I'm looking at getting my first Formula board and found an Exocet L99 in good shape for a good price. Anyone have experience with this board?

easy and fun due to its dimensions. friend of mine modified one by putting cut outs in the tail release area. made it a bit more lively at extreme angles. great first formula board.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear. The Exocet literature claims the board is suitable for "small to medium sized riders". My wife is 110 lbs so this will end up being her board. But I'm 240 lbs, would this board work for me as well? It comes with a 10.5m sail (my wife already has a good quiver of sails her size).

Do you have any photos of your friend's board and the modifications he made? Sounds like some pretty serious surgery!

Would love to hear any and all comments on this board. This will be our first Formula experience. Smile

One other question, how rugged / durable are the early Exocet formula boards? Found an old flier that describes the construction:

- sandwich deck/bottom Full carbon 1k
- Rails full sandwich
- Wood reinforcement
- Epoxy paint : more resistance to impact and chips.

The board I'm looking at looks pretty good for a 10+ year old board. But are these known to be more durable than, say, the early Starboard Formulas?
