Body Bags? Sounds like they would work, ofcourse, I'd make sure to pony up the extra cash for the NEW ones and not the used ones...

A bodybag?!?! WTF???
DaKine makes a very nice sail bag that holds alot of stuff. Mine holds three masts and my whole quiver (4 sails). It's expandable, and has extra handles that make strapping it to the roof racks a snap. _________________ Kansas City |

Before you think that we are just a bunch of unemployed hitmen trying to make the most of the old stuff we have rotting in the garage from our previous jobs --
No, no, no, the bodybag thing is specifically the only real solution we've come up with so far for a side-topic here:
a 100% leak-proof sail quiver bag for inside the car/SUV use!
I know its unusual, but some people have a SUV or a car that they don't want saltwater leaking in to when they throw their sail bag in the car and dash off. Some people don't use roof racks due to garage overhead clearance issues, etc (think San Francisco's old apt buildings as an example...)
It also helps that the body bag does not take up a lot of space like a massive plastic box would, or like a set of 6 inch capped PVC tubes would, because sometimes the cars or SUVs in question also have 2 toddler carseats stuck in them, and you've got to get your board in there, too, so space is at a premium.
masts, booms, and boards are less of a problem because you can dry em quick and not get much leakage. Sails can leak/leach out saltwater all over your seats, carpet, whatever.
You get the idea.
BEST SOLUTION SO FAR: body bag. |

Try giant heavy duty construction garbage bags? Not the cheap kind. The kind that can hold wood, plaster and glass and are about 5 feet tall. It won't fit the entire sail, but 3/4, and let the slight angle and gravity hold any water. Or use two if you want to protect the top from hitting seats. A body bag seems quite expensive, morbid, heavy and not very compact, but I could be wrong. |
