Jay
mine was for a learner as well. I wanted to see how it tracked, and used a small sail, 4.2--6.0
I feel it was overfinned in photo, it worked better with smaller sides.
the board was too small in volume for a learner even on a small childs Ezzy sail. _________________ K4 fins

I gotta wonder whether that big SeaLion or a Kona might be a great beginner board, with their width, full padded deck, its paddle/sail versatility, performance in waves compared to a Start, Go, Prodigy, etc. |

It really seemed like a good start for my son, he weighs 70lbs so its stable. I am 100 lbs more and I can paddle the thing with no experience, so for medium sized people it's a good choice I think. When wavesailing it, it felt a bit large for me. If I could have one just to supsail maybe the 83 would be my choice. No centerboard with that one though.
A pretty good all around toy, JP |
