Hi Gang,

If you vacation in Baja you might want to keep an eye on Amanda, the huge hurricane currently south of Baja but moving northward. So far it seems to be weakening but it is impacting the wind of the North Pacific High and the South Pacific High

Hi Kazzo,

The original animation comes from http://earth.nullschool.net

I converted part of the zoomed image into a QuickTime video file and then into an gif89a animation which I color optimized and annotated.

The nullschool.net site is amazing to look at. Just remember it does NOT depict actual wind but only the model output of the creaky old low resolutions GFS model which can not resolve any topography smaller than 30 miles across. So it is fairly accurate over the open ocean and useless near land for wind.
