This is just a simple non-scientific market survey.
Who (windsurfers and kiters) would be in favor of a new/better "Hatchcam"? In my humble opinion, the current cam and web page are underutilized and very often dysfunctional. I'm thinking about installing an alternative cam with page from the same cliffside with a similar perspective. Only better. Thanks.

Maybe you should ask the CGWA if you can install a cam at Swell City? |

I love the CGWA. But getting a cam with the CGWA is something somebody else can do. I am not interested. And now, back to the initial topic...

Yes, great idea. It would be cool to have one that can ZOOM in to see sail sizes. |

Not sure, but I think Dave Russell put the cam there originally. I know he did the old Rowena Cam. Maybe someone should contact him and offer to simply buy a new camera (or two, to show a distance view plus a close-up).
I use the current web page to see what the water looks like, but mostly to check the cloud formations for the whole gorge. If you do a new web page, please include that part.
Thanks! |

Given that gas is $4 a gallon I am always in favor of a couch report before I pull out of the garage. I tried to get a Rowena cam last summer and spoke to a number of people on the OR side, but everyone I connected with had no power by the river, etc. Again, given the price of gas, I think a lot of people would be willing to donate $10-50 each to get a very nice quality camera with software options to do what people like Jim are suggesting. Keep working on options and let us know. Thanks ahead of time for your efforts. |
