The expansion of the universe in the first millisecond was far greater than the speed of light. Not even close. Instantly. No relation to light speed. Read up.

Or weather!
Advisor Daniel Patrick Moynihan, notable as a Democrat in the [Nixon] administration, urged the [Nixon] administration to initiate a worldwide system of monitoring carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, decades before the issue of global warming came to the public's attention." Here is the nub: Daniel Patrick Moynihan warned Richard Nixon in 1970 that unless the Nixon administration took drastic action to limit greenhouse gases, it would be seven degrees warmer in the year 2000 and parts of America would be underwater.

He was right... parts of America ARE underwater.

A more reasonable article on GW.

Serious doubling down on Antarctic ice loss these days, much to my amusement, forgetting about the research ship that got stuck down there last year due to unexpected ice.
Now I'm waiting to hear about anthropologic volcanos (volcanos forming due to human activity).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Newly-discovered active volcano could erupt underneath ice in Antarctica and add to effects of global warming, say scientists
Researchers discover [another] volcano underneath surface of the ice
Volcanic activity recorded around 30 miles from existing volcano
Burst of seismic activity found in January 2010 and March 2011
Sub-glacial eruption could melt ice and speed up rate of ice sheet loss
Since when does melting FLOATING ice (the reports so far say the Antarctic ice field had broken loose from the sea bed) raise the world's sea ice by four feet ... or millimeters?
Well, either the scientists who published the two articles and their reviewers made a silly mistake, or you are missing something. It should be obvious which one it is.
I wonder if the recent finding by a "leading government-funded military research organization", the Center for Naval Analyses Military Advisory Board, will convince some extreme right-wingers here that global warming is real and needs to be dealt with (NYTimes, "Climate Change Deemed Growing Security Threat by Military Researchers", http://tinyurl.com/l2pk6tr ). After all, a retired general and a retired admiral contributed: Adm. David Titley, a co-author of the report and a meteorologist who is retired from the Navy, said political opposition would not extinguish what he called the indisputable data in the report. “The ice doesn’t care about politics or who’s caucusing with whom, or Democrats or Republicans,” said Admiral Titley, who now directs the Center for Solutions to Weather and Climate Risk at Pennsylvania State University.
Conservatives don't doubt there is ice melting. We doubt that us little ant like humans can do anything about it.
I'm more interested in EMP troubles, currency collapse, pandemic or an asteroid strike, which would mean immediate death instead of a slow bubbling effect around low lying cities.
The point is, our government should prepare for all types of disasters, and not just 1. That is like putting all your money on #13 at the craps table and hoping nothing else happens.
I've got it, at last!
A comment to that Mail article from a gentleman with a sense of humour (or paranoia perhaps Rolling Eyes ), 'Cutting down on CO2 is part of the governments depopulation plan, by depriving us of food and oxygen.'
A wonderful thought. I can just imagine all those red faced ranting, foaming at the mouth, bellicose blustering right wing Colonel Blimps, collapsing from oxygen starvation and leaving the world free to be 'led' by kindly, know it all - err intellectual liberal left wingers who will create for us a new 'Garden of Eden' love in, on earth.
(Or should that be hell!)
The problem with that, Mr. B., is if the govt spends your tax dollars on a disaster that never occurs, then you scream "WASTING TAXPAYERS' MONEY." And if the disaster does occur, then you scream "WHY WEREN'T WE PREPARED."
And all along, you should be screaming "BENGHAZI, BENGHAZI, BENGHAZI !"
Right?
