Swap meets, dude. $0-$20. I have about 20 of them, probably for a total cost equal to the retail price of the best of the lot. The cheapest were free despite being in very good condition. The two most expensive bags cost me $50 and $100, but that was because each of them included a fantastic (no, not Fanatic; F2 and RRD) high-wind wave board which lit my fires more than any modern boards I've ever tested. That $50 bag's "free" contents rewarded me with the best afternoon on the river I'd had in years.

Raise your sights, lower your expenses.

At the opposite end of the scale is a totally custom 1/2" airline bag with all the bells and whistles for $250 for my weird-shaped fishtail windSUP -- roughly the price of a thin, minimalist, off-the-shelf, DaKine day bag -- from very highly praised Midnight Productions.

Yeah, I know I rant a lot about Gorge swap meets, but it breaks my heart to see so much fantastic gear go so cheaply or not sell at all just because so many people believe the manufacturer and shop hype that what was the best gear in the world just 5 years ago is now obsolete. That pristine 2001 Maui Project Wave 8-4 at Sunday's swap meet would be worth $500 to me -- hell, $2,000 if compared to today's top-rated boards FROM THE SAME SHAPER -- if I didn't have literally a lifetime supply of them in my private reserve. The sad part? The seller loved it, but had succumbed to the hype; I hope he makes some head-to-head comparisons before selling it.

Dear Isobars,

Yeah, If I could have made the swap.. I would have. So do you have a bag for sale or is your purpose just write to multi-paragraphed message about your awesome board-bag adventures?

CU, do you come up this way occasionally? In White Salmon. I will give you a bag that I have. I look for the older, padded bags at the swap meets from CGWA, and pick them up when there are some. I bought several last year for about $10 each. I will give you one that is in good shape that is sitting in the way in my garage. If you are going to be up this way just give me a call at (509)637-4292.

Jim

My purpose was to provide useful information to someone who wanted it. You are apparently not that person, so I won't bother you with the rest of the answer.
