The bread and butter boards in my RV are in fitted, padded racks that need no bags. The boards that rotate according to forecasts, seasons, whim, favor, lunar phase, etc. are bagged because they are not in padded nests. Bags in the shade don't generate heat, so the factor of concern is ding and abrasion protection.

Your van IS white, I hope, and all the windows are reflectively tinted, I presume. Anything else will generate extra heat, as we've discussed before. My RV interior stays at outside ambient shade temps because of the above and because there's always a breeze through it (if there's not, I move or go home anyway).

as I thought I had stated, this thread is 6 years old. Don't know how/why it got resurrected. Seems like a spammer and then people (me included) started posting to it again. thanks for the advice, but I no longer need it.

The definitive windsurfing van set up is mine. Mine mine mine.

http://www.peconicpuffin.com/the_peconic_puffin/2006/11/the_van.html (click on all the links in the piece to see it all.)

It works very well. Every piece of windsurfing equipment is directly accessible (ie I don't have to move any gear to get to it) with the exception of my two smallest sails, which are stowed behind my 77 FSW (the board I'll be on if I'm rigging either of them.) Absolutely brilliant IMHO. And cheap (except for the hours of putting it together.) Rebuilt it every winter for the first four seasons to get it dialed in. Haven't touched it in 6 years.

Damn! Those Euro-vans cash-in on windsurfing's longtime cultural investment. Well, that plus narrow roads and a reasonably small continent! A few years dated following model release schedules.

Smile Yes. It's critically placed...standing at the side doors its centered and at just the right height.
