Guy,

Don't forget to check SPI instead of Bird Basin. Las Brisas condo's have a launch and a place to leave sails rigged. The monthly rate is only a couple hundred dollars more than their 2 week rate. I'll be there the month of April..

Saw your ride at the Dodge dealer. It was a short and low version that looked interesting...

Guy, is this vehicle destined for Baja or Texas this year

Maybe Baja next winter, but I started kite-skiing this winter and it turns out that it's a lot of fun, so I might stick around next winter.

Here, it's still is very cold, so it's hard to work on the interior of my van (I don't have a garage), so unless it's ready for the beginning of April, I might go plan B, which is Hatteras this spring.

John, your condos in SPI look pretty cool, thanks!

Guy, you launch right off the boat dock. If you are good, you don't even get wet Smile But then you have to slog across a pulsing wind shadow to get to the good wind. THAT is the challenge (both going out and coming in). But hey, pretty cool right?

Hi Kevin,

Sorry for not replying earlier, I don't come here often. I didn't use my Promaster a lot, but so far it's 15 city/19 hwy mpg for me.

There is a specific thread on the Promaster forum:

http://www.promasterforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11874

If interested I started my own thread on the work in progress of my windmobile:

http://www.promasterforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12938

Cheers!

Really that's all? I had heard it was getting mid 20's. You mileage is very similar to my Sprinter (18.7 mpg for 33k miles average). But the sad part is the cost of diesel and Mercedes services! My Ram 1500 4x gets 15 mpg average for it's life. But with gas at $3.40 and Diesel at $4. I bet they come out even. Then throw in a service, $60 for 7500 miles for the Ram, $600 for 10,000 miles for the Sprinter and it isn't so economical......

Actually, the mid 20's are for the diesel motor on the Promaster, that nobody has seen or tried so far.

If you consider the price of diesel is 17% more than gas, the diesel motor would need 21 mph to do better. And it will add $4000 to the price tag, making the PM more expensive than the Sprinter.

Frankly, I don't think they will sell a lot of diesel motors on the PM, so service issues could be worst than it is on a Sprinter.

Like I said on the thread, it's a photoshop work.

I would do it, but my wife doesn't want to. My latest argument: she has been nominated twice for "most stoked winddurfer" on the CGWA.

This time, with her image driving back and forth in the Gorge for 3 months this summer, she would enter in the subconsciousness of every windsurfer in the Gorge and she would be a sure winner.

For the other side, I am planing a photo of myself snowkiting, with a mention "Devil made me do it". Here's the picture.

Cheers!
