Hey All,
Anyone ever try the Prolimit waist harness?
I like the clip in attachment feature and pre-curved design, but as I understand it, the hook does not move-at all. Not sure if that's really an issue or not, and generally I don't think I use the slide-able feature on my current Dakine T-3. But maybe It's sliding around a bit and I did not even realize it.
Other than that, the Prolimit looks like a great harness. Input anyone?
Thanks.
Greg

I switched to prolimit some years ago. Nearly drowning under a sail with a twisted harness line, watching sailors go by kind of made the decision for me. I have used the emergency release system twice in 4 yrs and twice did not regret the purchase

The quick release has been valuable. I had to use it once to get out of potentially serious trouble, and knowing that it is there helps confidence.
After a rib injury I stripped the hardware off a Prolimit and used it as a brace to sleep in and for daily living in the first few days of recovery.

I have used them for years and liked the super soft edges of the harness made out of neoprene. I also like the quiche release but that isn't why I bought it. I replace mine every year and get the latest model.

I had one. Super comfy and great support. But I couldn't get used to the fixed hook. For me a sliding hook is required. There are other posts in here about fixed vs. sliding hook.

I have had a couple of these harnesses and loved the feel comfort, support and quick in/out BUT
I have bent/broken 4 of the bars. Not broken the hook portion off but the bar itself right at the hook attachment. I got a couple of new ones for free but it was still PITA and too often.

I too liked the harness for the reasons already noted and as it fits me well. However, I have broken two of the harnesses, where the nylon strap connects to the back support. Unlike other brands, pro limit only attaches at one point on each side not two on each side and the little bit of stitching has simply failed and torn loose in the same place. No one in hood river has a machine able to stitch through the thickness of the material, and while one was three seasons old the other was in its first season when it failed. Basically a cheap and poorly thought out connection which should be easily fixed but in the meantime I have given up on pro limit.

Yo 2 blue hawaiians,
NICE PIC! And super cool board too-I assume that's a Haut board.
I guess the stationary hook has not been a problem for you.
Where do you get the harnesses from?

Love the comfort level, and the easy on/off via the quick release but same failure happened to me on two of these harnesses. Also happened to one friend, exact same thing. Possibly to a second friend also.
Last time I brought mine to a luggage/shoe repair guy in Sunnyvale and told him my life depended on his repair. For $50, He did a fantastic job, way better than the original. I had him do the other side also as part of that price. All hand stitched with super strong waxed thread

I actually like the fixed hook, I just shift my weight and slide a little on the lines. I have tried the roller hook and used to get super launched/whipped just because you get a little off balance. Never try one again!
I have also had one harness fail at the attachment point. I was in Hood river so I took it to Da kine and they repaired it for me.
I usually buy a new one every year and a new universal joint. I have bought them from Windance before while up in Hood River.
Yes the board is an 8'0 Haut.
