With the season just around the corner/already starting, it's a great time to encourage someone you know to try windsurfing for the first time.
Cal Sailing Club is one of the best and most fun places to learn. Every Saturday at 10:30am and Sunday at 11am, beginning windsurfing lessons are held. Club dues are a paltry $100 (or something like that) for a three month membership, which includes endless lessons, gear, rescues, bbq's, friendship, etc.
If you're interested, you can also come to help teach. I'll be there this Saturday morning to run the class so feel free to stop by and check it out or more importantly, refer some new future windsurfer to the sport!!
If we all get one new person to try the sport this season then we have a better chance of keeping things going for the future.
BTW, I'm not trying to push Cal Sailing Club (Boardsports at Alameda is also a great place to learn and Delta Windsurfing/Jason Voss also provides amazing instruction). CSC is not for everyone, but it is an easy low cost route (no gear or wetsuit needed) that is also very fun and low key.

| I assume Cal Adventures next door would also be on your suggested list? Or have they stopped offering WS lessons? |

doh! i forgot to mention them. yes they have great camps and do rentals as well. i don't know about their one-on-one lessons but most likely they have those too. |

I would encourage Cal sailing club to allow people who do not live in the Bay area to be able to join for a weekend rate of $20 for 2-3 days. This seems petty, but I'd bet you'd get some young families visiting to use their facilities. Perhaps outside a 100 mile radius?
Announce all the kids and beginner clinics here more often and on various threads. We need to grow this sport. |

It's a nice idea, but we're reluctant to offer "special" memberships. It complicates many things, not least because we're a non-profit.
*However* we do have open days once a month, where you can get a free boat ride - the next is this Sunday 16th of March, and just check things out.
Sorry; we can't let you use the windsurf gear unless you're a member - this is to do with the cost of the gear and such.
A family membership is $150, which is frankly, an awesome deal. Some people have even done their volunteer hours up front (10 hours), and never paid anything.
