The word you were searching for is "martial". Marshall was a plan, cooked up by liberals, to rebuild Europe.

Engineers can be taught to read, write, and spell. But you have to pay attention.

Bias? Maybe so, but interesting nevertheless.

Lots of "key words" being used in that promotional video. Interesting? No, I don't think so. Maybe, too simplistic would be a better take.

That video may wind up the French comedy channel. Over Xmas I saw a whole show based around a report on Fox that the French economy has collapsed and milk cost 10 Euros a liter. They set up on the street to sell 10euro milk.Called it the American Shop. They bought the milk just inside at a French store for three Euros.
The point was to show how shallow the understanding of Europe is in America, and how our media turns it into nonsense for purely partisan American issues.

The Frencg economy has too many rules. They were largely put in place by past conservative governments "to uphold the quality" and stifle new business from competing with the establishment. That is the big reason you can't get rich unless you are a part of that conservative establishment.

Young people are also leaving because cost of a home is so high, in part because so many rich English and other folks are moving INTO France.

Where are the French going?
To high tax socialist countries like Sweden and England in many cases.
The video pretends that young folks who can't make money are angry that taxes are high. Folks who don't make money don't pay taxes in France.

I saw a video claiming the same thing about America. All the rich people and young folks left America when Obama was elected.
Why is there still so much traffic at rush hour in both America and France?

OK, I Googled it. I had assumed you guys were talking about Marshall law. What I found instead was a bunch of left wing gun-haters crying about local and state police upgrading their weapons in an arms race with the criminals they face. Some idiot at Reuters, for example, was aghast that a cop might be armed with an AR-15.

REALLY? The gun most easily used by a housewife and widely wielded by murderous criminals, and these reactionary liberals don’t want them in the hands of the men and women who stand between those criminals and our families? IMO, the police protecting me should have everything up to and including RPGs, flame throwers, armed drones, electronics to disable my car from any distance, heavy machine guns, Air Cobras, tanks, 500-pound conventional bombs, and freaking Godzilla … and I’m dead serious. Anything they can use to stop an undisputed bad guy with the least risk to the public is fine by me.

Mike, I think your last sentence expressed the tension between those of us who support gun control but also respect the 2nd Amendment (though understand it rather differently than others) and the general concern shared by most regarding a militarized police.

Since the horrible atrocities committed on Sept. 11, 2001, likely billions of dollars have poured into local police and sheriff entities for the purchase of truly military weaponry. Paired with the increase in number and militarization of SWAT units since the 80's, the armed police presence in the USA is staggering. Some of this change may be for the good as measured my most. Yet much of this change represents an imbalance in favor of law enforcement vs the rights of due process, association and unreasonable search.

Stopping and searching a person without a reasonable suspicion of a specific crime committed by that person violates the 4th Amendment in a most plain way. Some, if not most, people should know their rights to refuse such a search. Yet where a law enforcement officer violates an individual's 4th Amendment right, the chance to vocally object is chilled when facing a heavily armed stop. Excess license to search becomes the unspoken norm that begins with bad apples in the force but can rapidly infect entire chains of command.

While a 6-wheel drive urban assault vehicle might prove very helpful to police in limited circumstances, driving that thing around town is a ham-fisted show of force. Such a show fails to deter anyone intent on committing crime, certainly no greater than a Crown Vic, yet it communicates a confrontational perspective to people who pose no threat of criminal violence.

I also would add that the local attack vehicle doesn't get your house faster than even an old Plymouth, even if the big truck would deliver Godzilla to stop a burglary.

Techno--do you ever wonder who funds these libertarian sites? I'm sure you are not surprised to find funding for the Mercatus Center from the Koch's and Exxon. It was founded by Rich Fink, Executive Vice President of Koch Industries.

Stay tuned for the latest in outrages from the de-regulation crew, posted under the appropriate thread.

That is a hilarious map.
The least free states are Hawaii and Cali.
Must be a coincidence that they are the most liberal states.
Clearly these guys have never been to Maui.
While Hawaii is the mostDem state in the country, we elected a GOP governeris because she was so competent.
