glad more folks are offering planing windSUP's. foot straps help a ton. not only for wave sailing, but for launching and landing. sheesh, it sure is taking a long time for the windsurf community to acknowledge its own base.....

One of the most established families in windsurfing brings a product to market, and you ask: "What took you so long?"

You are not invited to my next dinner party.

I'm curious about the mast track thing, too. First of all, the Angulo used to have one, like in the one that J. Douglass is modifying down in SW Florida. If the single bolt is as strong as the track, then fine. In the earlier Starboards, there was actually was a track hidden under the EVA with 3 separate sites to attach the mast foot (of which I only used the front one)--and these sites are incredibly strong. But I also had an Amundson, and this single site needed to be reinforced after it ripped out in strong shore pound. That 11'3 Amundsen by the way has fantastic windsurfing rocker, and not surprisingly, not as good surfing characteristics although quite serviceable.

1. Hi, TimThole! and thanks again.
2. My g/f just bought the JP SUP/wind, the 8'10" x 28" one, 126 liters. It SUP's just fine, slow of course, but the purpose is surfsailing at easier sites like Stinson, Bolinas, or Limantour (low tides) when winds are too light/holey for normal wave boards.
3. I'm going to use Tim's old MikeZ course slalom, a 9'4" x 72, but with a 10" fin of some kind I might and hope to find buried in the garage. Unless Adam really wants it.
4. We have plenty of high wind boards, but for winds under 17, down to 5, I hope we now have a workable quiver.
5. Won't be trying it until next weekend, but hoping for tiny surf and some sideshore NW winds in MarinCounty.

Inserts are not intended for wave sailing. A mast box is much stronger.
Most SUP boards are not intended for windsurfing. They are thin skinned and soft. They can't handle any large sails with their A box fins.
Exocet makes a windsup that is a real windsurf board.

This board has a regular windsurfing mast track and is designed purely for riding wave with a windsurfing sail in hand! True wave riding light air style! Very Happy Very Happy
