short and wide requires a steady state of wind power.

I've read, heard, and observed that a major advantage of short/wide was superior planing power ... both father into lulls and quicker out of them. But I respect (most of Smile ) your expertise and advice, especially regarding planing in marginal winds, so I'm confused. Lord knows that even good days around here are pretty gusty, so a broad range of planing power is valuable. Please elaborate.

this is an exaggerated version of a non steady state of wind power. i suspect this sensor needs calibration. friend of mine was arguing with a internet junkie yesterday about the conditions he was sailing in down at sebastian inlet, close to this sensor. the wave junkie was saying he was lit on a 92 liter board and a 5.0 sail. the internet junkie was basing his observation on this sensor and saying, "that can't be right, the sensor shows squat." http://www.iwindsurf.com/windandwhere.iws?regionID=226&siteID=2794&days=1&Isection=Wind+Yesterday

some people need to get out of their house more, some need to design boards for real world conditions more, some need to calibrate the sensor array they broadcast. here's another close to my friend that was lit up with his 5.0 sail. http://www.iwindsurf.com/windandwhere.iws?regionID=226&siteID=3311&days=1&Isection=Wind+Yesterday
