I'm so glad our government hasn't militarized local police like Venezuela has....Oh wait, the left and right ignore that our government is militarizing our airports, cities, streets and shopping centers. Local police have tanks, urban assault vehicles, automatic weapons, grenades, and another huge ammo buy by DHS. Why? Isn't this unconstitutional? The military cannot move against our citizens, so Bush and Obama are militarizing local police.

Right to bear arms has been destroyed in every country that is having military crackdowns today. Just check out this video.

Really Bard, you feel threatened in our country by police and think citizens need rocket launchers and tanks to protect ourselves from this massive government militarization? Paranoid are you? Why don't you arm yourself and hide in a closet and wait for the this atrocity to happen. Also, seems like everyone in that video has a gun. They are all idiots. Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop....It's the solution to everything. Idiots.

Is what unconstitutional? Arming the civilian authorities? Citizens can bear arms but the state and local law enforcement authorities cannot?

I thought that was LA. I was waiting for the part where the truck driver gets a brick whipped at his head.

Bard you are something. Are you really worried our SWAT teams are to prepared? That should be the least of your worries. Our government could zap you from space in a micro second with a laser as you are driving to Bill's bait and ammo shop.

Our founding fathers were very clear that there should be a distinction between the military, and civilian government. If you haven't heard of the Posse Comitatus Act, or seen that DHS is buying another 700 million rounds of hollow point ammo this year, you should read up on it.

I know many of you are happy that this government is watching out for your best interests, but a little thoughtful reflection is in order IMO.

You did not identify what actions were unconstitutional.

By referencing local and federal authorities in the same sentence, you are mixing jurisdictions.

As to federal authorities and the The Posse Comitatus Act: The Act is intended to limit the powers of Federal government in using federal military personnel to enforce the state laws. The Act does not apply to the National Guard under state authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within its home state or in an adjacent state if invited by that state's governor. Can you cite an instance where this law has been violated?

As to state authorities, I see nothing to support your position.

Your statement that: "Our founding fathers were very clear that there should be a distinction between the military, and civilian government" genuinely interests me. Can you provide me with some historical evidence of this? Thanks.

I agree that local police forces have become overly militarized. However, I don't see this as a constitutional issue. I see it as a local issue. Please direct me to any source which supports the constitutional theory you espouse.

The limitation on the use of federal military force in the US is to give credence to concept of state sovereignty. How law enforcement in the individual states elect to arm themselves is up to each individual state. Therefore, I see no constitutional implication.
