|
|
Hello guys
Iīm looking for a 3.5 since my plan to have a 4.0 as my smallest is by no means working.
I have ezzy masts and my quiver consists of ezzys and simmer sails. I have found a good deal on a Maui sails Legend. I see that the MS bend curve is a hardtop but some say they work on ezzy mast. -so iīm guessing not that mast specific.
Does anyone have experience rigging a Legend on an Ezzy mast? Actually my 370 is a mix of 340 bottom and a 400 top. Does that leave me with a stiffer top than a normal 370 mast?

340B 400T
from one mast person ( who has forgotten more than I know) THAT I have consulted NO softer than a 370/370
Believe it or not it makes it softer, it makes more % of the mast the tip section, and the base sections of masts are always stiffer, so a longer tip section would equal a softer overall.
Iam not familiar with Maui Sails products, they do want a stiff top. It may work ok on a 370 or 400/370 combo. The range could be , probably will be reduced, but it will depend on how much range the sail had to begin with and how much you are willing to give up.
I might try a 400B 340T,
and write Barry at Maui sails

Yeah, well skyking, iīm up in Iceland. Itīs unpredictable, sometimes i donīt use my small sails for a long time and then other months itīs all i use.
This is today (pics attached), wind and swell on the peninsula I sail the most. Makes me want to order that 3.5 fast
I have been looking into used ezzys as well and have found a few. Then i stumbled upon the MS deal and itīs not much more money for a new sail so thatīs why i was wondering if i should go for it. But the ezzy might be a safer bet, also sails that i know and like, although i do prefer my simmer sails.
Thanks U2U2U2 for your insight and info on the masts!

Well there are a couple of us that sail all year around. But i guess itīs not colder then lots of other sailors are doing in other parts of the world. Usually we stick to sailing when it is above freezing but sometimes we get tempted to sail in colder weather when the conditions are good. And it does get good during winter. But i would say that most sessions are from about 0-4c and water in the same range. Being on the sw corner of iceland we usually get a few sessions with those temps each month.

Found a used Ezzy panther 3 in good condition and ordered that just to be safe with the bendcurve and mast compatibility. Those maui sails look good though, guess i have to take a windsurfing vacation to the states and try out those sails

You really should be on North sails; Ice or Hero.
