Up to 100mph gusts are predicted, easterly. Could be spectacular photo opps, but I won't snapping them due to wind chill. Who is going to sacrifice their body to get the shots?

biffmalibu, you sissy, get out there! Why, here in SoCal temps are plummeting into the 40s, brrrr, but we still get out! Sheesh!

Wow the 40's! I wish! Have you ever gone sailing while it's snowing out? I was checking out the forecast for OBX the other day and saw 40 in the forecast and thought "I'd do that!"

Hell no, I was kidding about the 40s! That's our overnight low! My personal threshold is about 58 air temp, I can stay out of the water if needed. Born & raised in SoCal, thickest wetsuit is a 4/3, which I don't wear much.

Kudos & props to you cold-weather sailors, you've got bigger balls (or smaller brains?) than me!

Yep. I'm a total sissy-boy (and I know how to xc-ski and snowboard). The temperature will be below freezing, so apparent temperature will be in the teens at best and sub-zero at worst. I don't like it when my nostrils freeze together upon inhalation.

Here's a chart that will explain further why I won't stop to take photos or video:

I took my son skiing today after a fresh 6" of snow. It was -8'C out but that wind was 35+knots at the top. I wasn't dressed for it and I quickly wimped out after 2 hours.

I used to sail lots in freezing temps but now my threshold is around 4'C and gloves required around 10'C. Once the gloves go on the fun factor is greatly diminished.

Too bad Biff, I love seeing all those nuke wind pics that Trudy takes. 100 mph! that would be something to experience. We were sailing here last fall in 60 mph gusts and it was insane. The windsurfing elite were getting their asses kicked.

I'd rather have 30 C than 30 F.

30 degrees Celsius = 86 degrees Fahrenheit

30 degrees Fahrenheit = -1.11 degree Celsius
