Keith, Great picture, makes me want it to be summer just looking at it. Where did you get your board ? Is there an AHD dealer on the east coast ? I can only find one in the SF area in Cali.

It always a compromise. How much do you weigh ? You are using the regular sealion ? Im about 175 lbs and tall. My main objective with this rig would be to save a sailing day when there are nice waves but light wind. If I can teach a 70lb kid on it, it would be a plus.

thanks.. yeah.. my good friend Bill Bell located in Nags Head NC sells the Sealions.. he has two in stock right now.. the Pro version and the larger 8'3"
here is his blog address. obxbeachlife.com

i weigh 185 lbs and the regular 130 L sealion is more than enough for my weight. i can uphaul it dry in no wind. Bill is lighter and prefers the Pro version which is less volume with same shape. 110 L i think. You could certainly teach your kid on the sealion.. it would actually be easier than a huge board for the kid.. since its shorter it will respond to their inputs better for them to learn to turn/ maneuver (upwind ...downwind sail handling etc)

that shot was taken by si crowther last September in Hatteras.

here is another from the year before. KP took this one.
notice surfers in the water...light wind..big waves..perfect.. swell was over head high that day. the sealion will do much more than save your session, i've learned more on that board in a few years than my entire short board sailing experience and thats saying alot.
