WOW , an very ambitious endeavor. I see the wingers as well on the swallow tail.
What fins & size are you looking at using ?
I would fashion a cover to /insert into the existing US BOX to fill the hole
I have refined since this , but its the top part being flush that matters, I think I made some from Home Depot paint sit sticks epoxied together.

Very clever Douglas, gets me thinking....how about doing that to a displacement bow SUP? Fast on and off the plane for light wind.

That Surfa 10'4" sails pretty well with just the rear fin. Not exactly an upwind machine, kinda like the original windsurfer in feel. But I sailed it bone-stock at East of Air during a big NEer and was impressed by it's speed on a reach and how it jibed, planing fully. I found the key was to use a softer sail with a fairly high draft i.e., less DH/more OH. That allowed me to put my weight on the rig by raking the rig over me -old school. Anyway, super-cool project. Follow up with your results, James!

Be very careful when it comes to the final glassing. If there is any bend in the rocker line from nose to tail of the addition (any deviation between the original rocker and the new rocker, as viewed from the side) it will slow down the board dramatically. So you will have to feather out the final glassing on the bottom, so that you can't tell where the old rocker ends and the new rocker begins (no visible transition).

Yeah, I was thinking that too. The F2 removable tail section concept could work well for switching a SUP between planing/flatwater mode and wave mode. Maybe even multiple alternative tail sections to go from wave sup to windsup to flatwater sup. I'll leave it to the experts to engineer that, though.
