It's Rad Brad at Hookipa. I was just looking at Jimmie Hepp's photos from yesterday and thought I know this guy.
Looks like you are having fun Brad!!!

Waiting for the set wave....

interesting cultural shift toward not planing. only the one in the background is. i agree with eddy patricelli. where's the planing in wave sailing now? not to try and hack on any one person's choices, but.....

schlogging is good!!!!

I dunno... been going/living Maui since 1982.

Always have been impressed by the schlogging and work that is needed to get "The shot" that looks awesome in the mags. If you watched the live feed of the Aloha Classic it would have been evident...not the edited version....some heats had wind, some did not.....some days have wind and waves....killer...but some have waves and marginal wind NBD

And to agree with your long standing position, that what (boards) looks good on a big fastmovin wave driven by a high-end dude/dudette
doesn't translate to east coash mush

But....half the time for me, if I'm in schlog mode, i am waiting for the wind which does happen, but only if you are on the water. Maybe videos have made us more honest....I really don't think planing has dropped as a percentage of wavesailing in high quality waves....especially given the old banana rockered asymetrics i used to sail with an heavy Ampro and a 10lb bag sail.....Global warming?

Guaranteed everyone of those sailors was planing and banging once they got to the takeoff spot!!!! This is literally a "Dealers Choice"

And dude planing is outside in the wind line...

Rad Brad goes 180 lbs ...Pretty sure he's on a 90l with a 4.7....duking it out in the swell zone with the masses

That was a pretty nice photo shot of the Schlog....Jimmy Hepp is no fool....As Crazyfingers once told me "It shows the tension"nice

BTW...
Some stats from the photo
9 sails "where the battens are visible/countable"

6 with 4 battens
1 with 3 batten (maybe it's 4)
2 with 5 batten

Means my stuff is heading to junk....i may just pull all my battens out

Don't miss my point! I have too many battens. geez

how do i count battens in my superfreaks? 2 of them are 3/4 length so that equals 1.5 battens, right?

My vision must be better. Rolling Eyes
I see 11 sails.
7 out of 11 are Goya.
