and this one by me:

I only had the priviledge to know Pat a little thanks to a mutual friend- Mike. You know those people you meet in a rare while that you just know immediately are the nicest, most honest, gentle, kind hearted, thoughtful people? That was Pat. You just knew he was listening and paying attention to everything around him on a deeply aware, compassionate, emotional level. He spoke softly and unassumingly. You could see in his eyes he was the most sincere person you could ever hope to meet. I remember the last brief conversation we had at Kanaha-mid Nov. : I had made a comment about being bummed about the crummy weather and lack of wind for the past week on Maui. I asked him if he was bummed about it. He answered in his softspoken way but emphatically at the same time, "No, not at all. Not at all." Just those few words and I took it to mean he was always appreciative of everything. Always saw the good things to be grateful for. It was an honor to have met Pat. I am sure he is in a fantastic place. My prayers to his wife and brothers and friends.

This article has some pictures of Pat from some recent trips and the video has some more pictures and comments from his brother Bill. Pat was a true friend and I spent over 18 years windsurfing, hiking, rollerblading and fishing with him.
