>I heard recently that late model F150s.....

i've heard the same thing. being the biggest selling utility vehicle may have something to do with that statistic.

still sucks, big time.

i spent a few seasons carrying my gear in the open bed of my F150. never lost anything. actually, people put loose equipment in there, twice.

Use one of those "craigs list watcher" apps to search for keywords and email you automatically when something pops up.

So how is that useless if you recover your vehicle?

I would not recommend advertising it in lost or stolen in Craigslist. I might even consider taking this thread down. Isn't this a public forum?

Iwindsurf should probably make lost and found or these type of topics a private service to paid members, because a thief might search public forums for the goods he stole to see the value or if it's "hot".

We will all be looking for this gear. Good Luck!

Really sucks to read a post like this.

One positive thing is that people that steal vehicles are pretty low down the criminal chain and hopefully are stupid enough to post the gear on craigslist, will keep a watch out.

Not sure what all the crazy security stuff is in the last post. Lowjack is pretty pointless as thieves dump vehicles in an open area for a couple of days to check if recovered before going to a chop shop, common knowledge in cities.

Best defense for anyone is a simple kill switch off the fuel pump relay with a toggle racing switch, about $12 and is the best deterrent from stopping a hot wiring. Alarm and the rest pretty worthless.

best of luck recovering everything. Hope your home insurance covers all the gear.

Totally agree. Another trick is to remove the fuel pump relay. Cost is free.

I have had a few dealings with insurance companies, and this is what I have experienced and been told, it should be consistent with ANY company, but State Farm being mine for sure this applies.

The contents of the vehicle, unless factory installed are NOT covered by theft. They insure the vehicle NOT the contents.

If you have homeowners or renters and vehicle insurance with the same company, my case both State Farm, then the car contents ARE covered by the home policy, minus the deductible of course.
