Windsurfing has kept me obsessed for the past 2 years...Im just wondering if im the only one or is it the same with everyone....I just love riding into the open ocean and its the difficulty of learning new tricks that kept me engaged for so long. |

It happens. I have been obsessed since 1978. And I do not do any tricks. Well hardly. |

Probably the most addicting sport I've come across. Everything in my life revolves around the weather and getting out on the water for the next session. Planning around work and family life, organinzing vacations with windsurfing as the focus, seperate savings account for new gear, buying a car to carry gear, family and commute to work (in that order). I'm as obsessed with windsurfing today as I was when I started back in 1986 - maybe even more now.
PS - I plan on skipping out of work early today to catch a late afternoon sesh.

It's a sport, obsession, fitness lifestyle, break from daily stress, social interaction, etc, etc, all in one for me for 23 years. Plus, there are always ways to improve my skills so it remains challenging, maybe even more now than when I first started. |

It is a downright addiction. In the best possible way. |

A sport for sure. One of the most, if not THE most, versatile water sports I can think of. It is only an obsession when it's windy or planning a vacation. Definitely a lifestyle for some.

I abandoned my engineering career for it, yet am not depressed that a knee injury will cost me 1.5 seasons. That makes it an obsession rather than an addiction, IMO. Whether it's a sport depends on how one goes about it; IMO, it's a sport if it improves one's physical health, as mine does. |

Sung to the tune of "Madness", by Muse:
I...
Just bought 3 sails I don't really need
It's like some kind of madness
Insane spending spree!
And I...
Will wait 8 hours for the slightest breeze
It's some kind of madness
That made my credit cards freeze!
I...have finally seen the light
I found a board that seems just right
.....At least this week!
My deepest apologies to Muse, an excellent band. _________________ Spennie the Wind Junkie

I bought a residence in my favorite place to sail, and I'm thinking about
an additional one in another place I like to sail.
That makes it a sport, right?
