Move harness lines towards mast.
Use shorter lines.
Your arms should be slightly bent when using harness. |

What he said was:
My front hand is working too hard. How can I fix that?
Especially in strong winds, my 28" lines tire my arms on my slalom gear. People say we must use lines longer than 28" for slalom sailing, but can/should I shorten my lines (or buy shorter ones)? I'm 5'10" and 176 pounds. |

I'm about the same exact height (but less weight) and have no problems using my 30s. Could it just be that he is accidentally death gripping his boom in strong winds/chop?

From your first picture, it could be because your are not holding your boom properly. I was tought to hold it with the distal and intermediate phalanges, and more or less to avoid griping with the thumb too. Your hand is stronger (for pulling) that way and it helps to avoid death grip. This cured forearm fatigue for me.
