Hello to Boardsurfr -- can you publish a history of Kalmus' wind from earlier today??
Picture Barney Fife blasting away with a .357 Magnum. That was me with a 3.7
This afternoon's outing shook the meat off my scrawny arms.
A couple of my terms
Staying in the play pen = Sailing within the jetty
going bare handed = sailing unhooked to minimize the overpowered upwind phenomenon.
Hats off to all those who tried.
Man, Nina must been hanging on for dear-life with a 4.0

Had an awesome day down here in southeastern Long Island sound. South southwests @ 30 gusting 38 mph. at times, very up and down though. You probably saw a bit more or at least steadier winds I would guess?

Shot from the Clew-View in Chatham today. 3.7m Team Abide board meeting.
PK, Tom, Sea-Squirt, Outcast, Matt7(all the way from Falmouth!)and myself. Oh and Wllie too.
One broken board(Check) One broken harness hook(Check) and almost two broken Chevy van doors!!!!
Yes it was windy!!!!
Most Octobers this time of year I am in top windsurfing shape!! Not this year. Lame-ass wind for October until today.
Is November the new Rocktober?

Ron, wind meter averages today were around 35, with gusts in the 40s, from 2:30 pm onward. Not sure why I was overpowered on 4.5, probably just not enough windy days recently. That did not keep Marty from having lots of fun with no breaks for hours! I filmed him for 30 seconds and got two nice jumps . Most others out were trying to keep the boards on the water...

Thanks Peter for the graphics.
Just me-- I know the go-pros are cool; but they never seem to capture the intensity of things. Peter’s picture with the spray blow’n is what I remember.
About a year ago, I snagged a NP 4.2 Matrix(?) and a Ezzy 3.7 Free Wave, both used, from Isthmus for less than $500. Both looked absolutely brand new. With all our complaining, you know that the 3.7 had never seen day light until today. That thing rigged like a champ on my nicely worn Fiberspar SD370. Moral of the story – You never know what’s out there – on the internet!
ps - Kalmus may not have an official team name; but the same guys, and at least 2 gals, have played quite well together for years.

Hey Boardsurf'r
If your wife is looking for something to do, jump in the car and head to the outer cape.
The waves might be just enough to practice on

Horseneck Report for Big Saturday: It was raging at Horseneck on Saturday afternoon. Small crew of about six, with Antoine, Don, Jeff, and others present. Overpowered 4.2s, logo high troughs, and huge air. The onshore wind direction made riding waves/swells difficult. One lost (and then found rig). I spent most of the time trying to keep my board on the water and trying (somewhat unsuccessfully) not to get throttled. Left with a nice memento: a small, but deep cut under my chin. Bring on November!
