Dear Exocet,
Please consider offering a version of the 11'8 Windsup in a substantially more rigid and lighter construction and without the dagger board.
Many of us love this board but would welcome the added stiffness of a more high performance layup and the weight savings by eliminating the dagger board on this special version. keep the dagger on the AST and perhaps wood versions.
I guess I'm talking about the use of carbon here but of course keep the price within reach.
This beast wants to run, please let it free. |

It must be a bummer for you to have to return a board you really like for some new untried design. No doubt, that has to be the big downside to being a sponsored rider. |

No daggerboard, thinner rails than the original 11'8" and 10'0", variety of constructions including carbon, wide enough for sup (unlike the curves).
Only mistakes they made, from my perspective, are choosing a us finbox + thrusters instead of a powerbox, and not including an 11'-something in the line. |
those seem too wide in my opinion, cant imagine theyd ride too nice in onshore bumpy conditions, thats where the 11'5'' was good, at only 70cm wide, the ride was still pretty smooth, even at well over 20knots.
they seem to be catering more to the sup'ers that windsurf, rather than keeping a windsurfing board you could sup.
the 11'5'' has been by far my most used board over the last 4 years.
kinda disappointed its been dropped. _________________ i like longboards. |

the 11'5 is a terrific board. the carbon one is a keeper. 78 cm vs 70. we'll see. perhaps people have tried wider boards a bit out of tune? i've got a 78 wide free ride that is super smooth. it got its first trial yesterday in some pretty weird stuff: 6-25 with lotsa variations in direction. wind was plummeting from the sky around tiny squalls. at first, i had the base a bit too far forward. made the board too whetted. responded a bit sticky even in some very small chop. moved it back 3 cm. what a difference.
i've sailed the 11'8 vs the 10" windSUP back to back, the differences are subtle. smaller board needs about the same near perfect timing to get wave rides in the lightest of wind, just like the 11'5. pay off, better turns, etc.
swchandler, from time to time, you are right. sure it's meant tongue in cheek. 3 boards i wish never left the exocet line: Cross II 106 pro, Exo-Wave 105 Pro, kona 11'5" carbon. honorable mention, Compact Move 115, and the Speed Slider II 89. _________________ www.aerotechsails.com

The exo wave 105 was certainly the best IMO. I've been riding my xwave 111 for a while now, and it's a close 2nd. It feels smaller and jumps better, but doesn't plane up as fast as the 105 did for me.
We've had no sizable surf this summer to check it out, but I anticipate it will ride well on large surf. |
